A third model egg has been stolen from a pre-Olympic exhibition.

Cartoonist Charlie Anson designed the 2ft-tall fibreglass egg, which was taken from its plinth outside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square on Thursday.

The Olympic-themed egg is one of 210 in the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt. Two similar eggs were stolen in February, but both were safely returned within days.

The eggs have been decorated by some of the world's leading artists, architects, jewellers and designers.
