Police are appealing for information about a boy who was killed when he was hit by two cars.

The 11-year-old was struck on Southend Road, Hornchurch, east London, yesterday.

The Metropolitan Police said emergency crews were called to the scene just after midday and the boy was transferred to an east London hospital.

He was pronounced dead at 1.15pm.

The youngster has not been named.

Officers said today that the schoolboy's next of kin have been informed but formal identification and a post-mortem examination have not yet been carried out.

Investigators said anyone with information about the collision should call 0208 5974874.
