A man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a double shooting in Bristol.

Two men - aged 44 and 45 - were taken to hospital after the attack in the early hours of Wednesday morning - with one reported to have suffered life threatening injuries.

The attack took place at a home in the Hillfields area in the east of the city at around 1am.

The Bristol Post reported the surrounding roads were closed as forensic teams investigated.

Avon and Somerset police spokesman Rhys Hughes said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the local community that a robust police investigation has been launched and you will see a heightened police presence in the local area.

“If anyone has any concerns in the area, I would ask that you contact your local neighbourhood police team – details of which can be found on our Force website.

“I would urge anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward now. Any information, regardless of how insignificant you may think it is, might prove crucial to this investigation.”
