Four police officers have been arrested over the death of a man in custody.

Kingsley Burrell, 29, from Birmingham, was detained under the Mental Health Act on 27 March 2011 by West Midlands Police and died four days later.

The officers have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence, manslaughter and misconduct, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said. West Midlands Police said it had co-operated with all IPCC requests.

Mr Burrell, a trainee security guard, was put in a seclusion room while he was under restraint. He died in hospital later after an incident. The cause of death has not been made public and an inquest is yet to be held.
