Police have arrested a man in connection with two burglaries during which women were sexually assaulted as they slept.

The 26-year-old, from Bicester, Oxfordshire, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and sexual assault and is currently in police custody.

It followed two incidents on the Southwold estate in Bicester early yesterday morning, when two homes were broken into by a man, items stolen and women in both houses reported being sexually assaulted.

The man ran off after the women woke up, Thames Valley Police said.

A 21-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. She is also in police custody.
