Man charged over murder linked to fire

A man has been charged with murder in a killing linked to the deaths of a mother and her three teenage children in a house fire. Leicestershire Police said a 19-year-old is due to appear in court today charged with murdering Antoin Akpom on September 12.

Just hours after Mr Akpom’s fatal stabbing in Leicester, Shehnila Taufiq, and her children, Zainab, 19, Bilal, 17, and Jamal, 15, died in a nearby fire and detective have investigated whether it was a revenge attack.

Two other men are being held in connection with the fire.
