Man in court over abortion 'hack'

A man will appear in court today accused of hacking into the website of Britain's biggest abortion provider.

James Jeffery, 27, was arrested in a police swoop during the early hours of yesterday morning after the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) was targeted by a cyber criminal.

Jeffery, of Castle Street, Wednesbury, West Midlands, stands charged with two offences under the Computer Misuse Act.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later today.

BPAS is a non-statutory abortion provider which treats around 55,000 per year.

The charity also provides counselling for unplanned pregnancy and abortion treatment and gives advice about contraception, sexually transmitted infection testing and sterilisation.
