Man dressed as Batman who handed suspect to police charged with burglary

It is not the way comic book capers are supposed to end. A man who made headlines around the world when he handed over a friend to police dressed as the super hero Batman has been charged with burglary.

Chinese take away driver Stan Worby, 39, will appear in court later this month along with Daniel Frayne – the man he delivered into the hands of the law whilst dressed as the Caped Crusader.

The two men were arrested when police stopped a vehicle containing suspected stolen property shortly after 4am on Sunday on Milner Ing, in the Delph Hill area of Bradford. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Two men, one aged 39 and one aged 26, are due before Bradford Magistrates' Court on April 26 charged with burglary.”

Last month, Mr Worby explained how he had returned from watching Bradford City play in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley in his Batman suit when Frayne asked him to accompany him to the police station in connection with a separate incident.

“I got some strange looks when I got to the cop station… One policeman looked at me and just laughed. I said to the policeman, ‘I deserve a medal, I'm a caped crusader’,” he said at the time. CCTV images of the unusual handover were released by police and immediately became a media sensation. “I'm no superhero. I eat kebabs. I never run anywhere.

“The furthest I walk is from my house to my car. I've never done fancy dress before, it's not my thing. So for this to happen the first time I dress up, I just can't believe it,” he added.
