The brother of Karen Danczuk, the former wife of Rochdale Labour MP Simon Danczuk, has been charged for a number of historical sex attacks that date back to the 1990s.

As The Daily Mail reports, Michael Burke, 37, was arrested in February in connection with a historical allegation of sexual abuse.

He was re-arrested in April, as new information came to light.

Now, he has been charged with 11 counts of rape, five of indecent assault and one of attempted rape.

One woman and two girls are involved in the allegations, with the incidents allegedly taking place between May 1990 and March 2010.

Burke, who lives in Rochdale and works as a security guard, is currently held in remand. Greater Manchester Police said he was set to appear at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates Court on 27 October.
