A chief constable and his deputy who were arrested as part of a corruption investigation began legal proceedings yesterday against three other police forces and the boss of the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Sean Price and Derek Bonnard of Cleveland Police were held in August last year as part of a £2.5m inquiry into alleged misconduct.

The men launched a civil action against the head of the NCA, Keith Bristow, and the chiefs of North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Warwickshire forces.
