A US woman who allegedly attacked the corpse of her boyfriend’s former girlfriend in a funeral home has been arrested.

Shaynna Lauren Sims, who also goes by the name of Shaynna Smith, was arrested by Tulsa police, Oklahoma, after reportedly dissecting her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend as her body lay in a funeral home.

The body of the unidentified woman, whose family members claim they saw 26-year-old Ms Sims with her hands inside the casket, was found with a significant facial cut, hair missing and smeared make-up after the assault.

Tulsa police arrested Ms Sims, who faces a misdemeanour complaint of illegal dissection, at the funeral home on Thursday.

The police report claims there was “a large vertical cut starting from the hairline stretching to the tip of the nose”.

The report adds that officers found a folding knife, scissors, a Stanley knife, and “various pieces of makeup” when they searched Ms Sims.

A family member also claimed that Ms Sims, who is dating the deceased’s former boyfriend, had stolen the deceased’s shoes, Oklahoma's News9 reported.
