Jock at home in Chartwell
A new kitten has taken up residence at Chartwell, home of the late Sir Winston Churchill.
The wartime leader had a marmalade coloured cat which he named Jock, after Sir Jock Colville, one of his private secretaries. On his death, Churchill left wishes that there should always be a cat with four white paws and a white bib "in comfortable residence" at Charwell.
The original Jock attended wartime cabinet meetings with him and meals in his household were not to begin until Jock was present.
The current Jock was rescued by the Cats Protection charity.
