Tara Twyman has just completed the 26.2 mile London Marathon, but she’s already running a second in as many days. On Tuesday she will run a third, and by next Monday she will have completed eight marathons in eight days.

Twyman, from Uckfield in East Sussex, is taking on the mammoth challenge to raise money for the Yoga Mission, a charity based in Varanasi, India, which is part of the International Chandramauli Trust and runs education programmes for impoverished children and adults in the area.

She is hoping to raise £5,000 for a new project being undertaken by the trust by her friend, Lucy Guest, which aims to open a kindergarten for 45 pre-school children providing tuition, healthy meals and safe transport to and from the premises.

Twyman’s Just Giving page shows she has raised nearly £4,000 of her target so far.

Speaking to the BBC about why she is undertaking such a gruelling task, Twyman said: “I thought I would try to do something as remarkable as I can manage to try and get people to notice what [Lucy] is doing.”

Twyman will spend today running a marathon route around her home area, where she is expecting to be met by Dame Kelly Holmes at the Olympian’s Café 1809 in Hildenborough when she completes her route.

She will be joined by girls and staff of the Mayfield school on Wednesday for part of another local route and will be joined by her two-year-old son for the final 800m of her 105 laps around the Lewes athletics track on Thursday, she details on her blog.

Friday will see Twyman running the marathon length around a number of London parks, before she takes to Beachy Head on Saturday, and finally running 27 miles in Worthing on Sunday, as she takes on the Three Forts Challenge, also known as “The Tough One”.
