One-year-old dies from injuries after truck collision in Birmingham

Officers are now appealing for witnesses as they investigate the cause of the collision

A one-year old boy has been killed in Birmingham after a truck reportedly hit a wall, which then fell on the child.

The child, who has not been formally identified, suffered a serious head injury after heavy bricks fell on him, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Queens Road in Stechford, near the city centre, at approximately 5pm on 16 March following a report of a collision.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses as they investigate what caused the collision.

Inspector Paul Bennett, of West Midlands police, said in a statement: "This is a very tragic set of circumstances. Words cannot describe what his family are going through and our thoughts are with them at this time.

"Specialist officers will be supporting the boy's family and as with all serious and fatal collisions - an investigation has been launched to establish the cause."
