Police face court action over fatal shooting of woman in car park
A police force whose officers shot dead a woman following a stand-off in the deserted car park of a department store is facing legal action.
Ann Sanderson, 37, was killed by armed officers from Kent Police investigating reports of a woman with a gun in Sevenoaks in June last year. Kent Police confirmed yesterday that it had been served with a copy of a High Court claim form by the lawyers acting on behalf of the administrator of Ms Sanderson's estate, but said it could not comment further on the matter.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has concluded an investigation into the shooting and both the family and force involved have seen a copy of the report. The IPCC said it would release the findings once an inquest into Ms Sanderson's death had taken place.
Ms Sanderson, who was known as Tosh to her friends, worked in a local factory.
