A missing 24-year-old woman and her baby son have been found safe and well after an appeal by police.

Samantha Thomas, from Sheerness in Kent, and her 10-month-old child had not been seen since 10.30am on Thursday.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A woman reported missing with her young child on Christmas Eve, from the Sheerness area, has now been found.

"Both the woman and child are safe and well. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation with the appeal."

Ms Thomas was described as having blue eyes and dark brown, shoulder-length hair.

She was last seen wearing a dark-coloured leather jacket with a maroon blouse and black leggings.

Police described her son as wearing a red coat and blue knitted hat.

Officers asked Ms Thomas to get in contact to let them know she was safe and well and for anyone with information to contact Kent Police on 101, quoting reference 24-614.
