Police find 13-year-old Malvern schoolboy who disappeared after 'blade attack' on teacher and female student

Police have found a 13-year-old boy who disappeared after a teacher and a fellow pupil were attacked today with a “bladed instrument”, believed to be a knife.

The incident happened at 8.45am this morning at the Chase Technology College in Malvern, Worcestershire, but a fruitless search has now led police to deploy a helicopter, the BBC has reported.

The victims, a male teacher and 13-year-old female pupil, both received minor injuries and were treated on site.

West Mercia Police tweeted on Monday evening that the boy had been "found "safe", and thanked the public for their patience and assistance.

Officers had earlier warned members of the public to call 999 if he was spotted.

He was described as being white, about 5ft 3in tall with short spiky hair and glasses.

“He was last seen wearing dark grey trousers, grey hooded jumper and may have a dark scarf covering his face. He was also carrying a dark rucksack,” officers said.

Detectives added that they were concerned for the boy’s welfare.

The school said in a statement: “There has been an incident at the school, which has now been dealt with. Everyone is safe, and there is no cause for concern.

“We are continuing to work with local police who remain at school as a safety measure.

“Parents can be reassured that pupils are not being allowed to leave school during lunch break. The school day is continuing as normal and will close at 3pm.”

However, all after school clubs were cancelled.

According to one sixth former, pupils were locked in their classrooms for 45 minutes as the drama unfolded.

The Chase School became an academy in 2011 and has over 1,500 students between the ages of 11-18.
