Two bodies found off the coast of Anglesey in search for missing climbers

Though the bodies have not been identified, rescue teams were searching for two climbers who went missing last night

Police have confirmed two bodies were recovered from the sea off the coast of Anglesey, North Wales.

Though the bodies have not been identified, the discovery coincides with the search for a 48-year-old man from Sussex and a 21-year-old man from Hampshire, who went missing whilst climbing in the North Stack area of Holyhead, on island's west coast.

The men were reported missing around 10.15pm last night.

A search operation - which involved police, coastguards and the RAF - was stopped at 1am this morning and resumed at first light.

A police spokesman said: “The bodies were located in the sea shortly after 7.15am today. The North West Wales Coroner will be informed.

“There is no more information available at this time.”
