Video: UK weather chaos - Planes underwater in Surrey

Aerial footage from a helicopter has revealed that severe weather across Britain has left planes underwater in Redhill, Surrey. The planes can be seen partially submerged in the flood waters, along with buildings in the surrounding area.

Heavy rain and strong winds have been causing travel disruption across Britain, leaving people stranded and unable to get home. Hundreds of thousands of people have been unable to travel as the continuing bad weather affects rail, road, air and sea travel.

Flooding has caused power cuts at Gatwick Airport, causing flights to be delayed and problems with checking-in.   

The Met Office has issued several severe weather warnings as the storms move across the country.

A spokesman for the Met Office said last night that a new wind speed high had been recorded at Capel Curig in Conwy, North Wales, with gusts blowing at 87mph. Not far behind was Berry Head in Torbay, Devon, with gusts of 76mph.
