A woman has died after a cliff reportedly collapsed at a popular beach in Wales.

The woman is believed to have been in her twenties. It is understood that the incident took place in the early evening, around 5:30pm.

South Wales Police last night confirmed that they are investigating an incident at the beach in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Swansea coastguard confirmed that a team had attended the scene, along with an air ambulance.

A police spokesperson said: “South Wales Police officers are in attendance at an incident at Llantwit Major beach which was reported shortly before 5:30pm this evening.

“A woman in her 20s has been declared deceased.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111 and quote reference 1500217238.
