Island's native must move fast to stay ahead of invaders
The land snail of St Helena, in the South Atlantic, at London Zoo's Invertebrate Conservation Centre. One of the three forms of Succinea sanctaehelenae is threatened by animals introduced to the island by man. The zoo and Oxford University are breeding a captive population as insurance.
