Patients died in 'rush' move

A health authority has taken the blame for the 'rush decision' to transfer 24 elderly mentally ill patients from Park Prewett Hospital, near Basingstoke in Hampshire, to nursing homes last March. A consultant advised against moving some of them. Eight died, five of them - including three the doctor was unhappy about - within 22 days of the move.
