Michael Portillo won the re-run first ballot among MPs for the Conservative Party leadership. The former party chairman Michael Ancram was eliminated after coming last.
Mr Portillo increased his vote on Tuesday's inconclusive ballot by one. Mr Duncan Smith and Mr Clarke each gained three votes, Mr Ancram lost four votes and Mr Davies three.
Mr Clarke said after the ballot: "I shall be in the first two."
