David Cameron has said he would be prepared to take his children to the England v France football match at Wembley on Tuesday as he said it was important that the British people show "resolve" and carry on with life as normal despite the devestating terrorist attacks on Paris.

He told people to be "vigilant" but said that changing our way of life would mean giving in to terrorists.

He warned that despite security being ramped up to its highest level since the 7/7 bombings, a free society meant there could never be "100 per cent security".

Tuesday night's friendly between England and France will go ahead despite initial expectations that the game would be postponed after Friday's attacks in Paris, which included three suicide bombings outside France's friendly with Germany at the Stade de France.

England fans are being encouraged to sing the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, with the words streamed on the big screen.

Asked whether he would take his children to watch the England v France friendly match as Wembley on Tuesday night, Mr Cameron said: "Yes I would. I think it's very important that we carry on with our lives.

“What these terrorists want to do is to change our way of life and to destroy our way of life.

"Yes we should be vigilant, and in a free society you can never have 100% security.

“But in a free society you also have the people and the police working together to keep us safe.

"So remember that, but remember that our freedom depends on us showing resolve and carrying on our way of life - which is precisely what we ought to do."

The England players, meanwhile, are keen to make their own tribute to the 129 people who were killed in the attacks in the French capital on Friday.

They were last night mulling over what that tribute will entail, and it is likely to be revealed at today's press conference.

The arch over Wembley and the big screen will both be lit up in the colours of the French flag.
