Jeremy Corbyn becomes favourite to win Labour leadership race in latest Ladbrokes odds

Ladbrokes said a surge of bets made after the latest positive polling put Corbyn ahead of the rest

Jeremy Corbyn may have entered the Labour leadership race as an outsider at 100/1, but he's now the favourite to win.

Corbyn swept to the top of the list with new odds of 6/4 at Ladbrokes, beating former favourite Andy Burnham who now sits in second place at 13/8.

Yvette Cooper’s odds are now 9/4 while Liz Kendall is now the outsider at 33/1.

Ladbrokes said the recent Labour poll showing Corbyn with a 22-point lead has led to a surge in bets and helped to secure his top spot with the bookies.

Labour’s poll showed that 42 per cent of party members intended to vote for Corbyn, while 22.6 per cent plumped for Cooper, 20 per cent polled in favour of Burnham and 14 per cent for Kendall.

Those who bet on Corbyn when he was the outsider at 100/1 stand to win substantial amounts of money should he become the new Labour leader, while one neighbour who bet £50 on him would see a payout of £5,000, Ladbrokes said.
