Can anyone stop Jeremy Corbyn winning the race to replace Ed Miliband?

Probably not, because most of those eligible to vote have cast their ballots already, but Liz Kendall, Yvette Cooper and Andy Burnham are making their final pleas to those yet to make their mind up in what has been a bitter contest for the Labour leadership.

Many in the party will give a huge sigh of relief in 11 days’ time after a leadership battle that has divided the party and distracted the Opposition from holding the Government to account.

Much of the attention has been on Jeremy Corbyn, who started as the 100/1 rank outsider but is now the firm favourite.

His radical plans to renationalise the railways, energy companies, ditch tuition fees his plans to scrap Trident, Britain’s nuclear deterrent, his Eurosceptic views and controversial relations with anti-Semitic preachers and Irish nationalist leaders have all been under the spotlight as Corbyn’s opponents attempt to convince supporters not to vote in Labour’s most left-wing leader since the party’s worst election defeat in its history in 1983.
