A ten-year jail sentence on Stanley Adams, 67, of Yeovil, Somerset, who advertised for a mercenary to murder his wife, was cut to eight years at the Court of Appeal. The court took into account that he would have to spend a 'substantial part of the remainder of his life' in prison.
