A 16-year-old boy escaped with hundreds of Euros after holding up a bank in Germany - before being arrested while on his bicycle.

According to AFP, the teenager pocketed a "four-figure sum" following a hold-up in Bad Fuessing, a small town in the region of Bavaria.

Local police claim that the youngster brandished his toy gun in order to obtain the money, shouting "Hold up!" at staff in the bank. Frightened staff were there forced to hand over the money.

After successfully staging the robbery, the boy made his way towards the border of Austria using just his bicycle.

However, he was then chased by a witness of the incident in their car, and was halted by police just minutes after setting off as he attempted to cross the border into Austria.

The teenager eventually surrendered to officers and reportedly admitted to robbing a bank using a toy gun.
