Woman selling her sofa falls victim to possibly cruellest prank of all time

Online prankster Joe Cordingley convinced a woman he wanted to buy her old sofa… but only if she sawed it into three

When Emma Taylor posted a photo of her old sofa online, she hoped to find a customer who might take it off her hands.

Unbeknown to her, 21-year-old Facebook user Joe Cordingly had taken offence to her sales techniques, claiming he was enraged by seeing her try to “sell [the] piece of shit relentlessly".

He contacted Ms Taylor, of St Annes in Lancashire, and wasted no time in asking if she would saw her sofa into pieces.

After convincing the seller he wanted the chopped-up sofa for an art project,he asked her to send him pictures of her posing next to the furniture while wielding her saw “just so [he could be] sure.”

After Mr Cordingley gave his approval to her choice of saw, Ms Taylor got cutting, sending over a photo of the now ruined sofa as proof.

“U best flipping turn up for it”, she messaged the online customer. He never did.

Finally a friend of Ms Taylor visited her after coming across Mr Cordingley’s updates online, and suggested she halt her 90-minute sawing session. The penny finally dropped.

The Facebook post has gone on to receive over 85,000 likes and counting, with 70,000 people sharing the pictures.
