Twenty heavily armed militiamen raided an aid agency compound in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, yesterday and abducted a French woman and a British man, the French aid agency Action contre la Faim (ACF) aid.

Witnesses said the young gunmen disarmed security guards at the compound before storming in with a "technical" - a pick-up truck mounted with a heavy machine gun - and snatching the two workers. ACF said it was negotiating for the release of its employees but declined to give further details.
