Austin bombings: Police confirm use of tripwire

Police in Texas are continuing their hunt for the mystery bomber targeting the citizens of Austin with homemade explosive devices.

A fifth package, an explosive intended for delivery to Austin, exploded at a FedEx postal depot in San Antonio overnight, injuring one female employee.

Two people have been killed by the devices so far and four more wounded in events police assume are connected.

Investigators say that the package that exploded at a FedEx shipping center near San Antonio was not the only parcel that they believe contained an explosive device, San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus has said.

Federal investigators have told reporters that they believe the bomb that exploded Tuesday on a FedEx automated conveyor belt is likely connected to the previous blasts in Austin.

FedEx workers have identified another package that they suspect was sent by the same suspect who mailed a bomb that exploded in a facility outside San Antonio.

The package, which was discovered intact, was found hours after the Tuesday morning blast.

"We have also confirmed that the individual responsible also shipped a second package that has now been secured and turned over to law enforcement," a statement from the shipping company read.

It was not clear which facility had the second package.

It was also not clear if this statement was in reference to a suspicious package at a FedEx facility in Austin, which police responded to Tuesday morning.
