A couple in Montreal has reportedly claimed that their wedding night on New Year’s Eve was ruined by Airbnb guests taking drugs in ther own apartment.

Francisco Peres and Justine Smith regularly use the online service to rent out their two spare rooms but failed to disable bookings for December 31, the day the couple had chosen to get married, according to the Daily Beast.

Although they didn’t really want guests staying at their house that evening, the couple told Buzzfeed that they “need the money” and decided it wouldn’t be the end of the world if they stayed - especially as the couple renting one of the rooms promised they would be “super chill”.

After a low-key wedding, Mr Peres and Ms Smith said they returned to their apartment at 2:30am, claiming the renters had trashed the living room and were no longer at home. She alleges that when they returned later they started taking drugs in the living room and started having sex on the sofa, according to the Daily Beast.

It wasn’t until the next day when they were greeted by two strangers they claim were naked that the hosts say they complained. Ms Smith says she confronted the paying guests only to find they had somebody else in bed with them.

She claims the group of five then cleaned up the mess before leaving a note apologising and congratulating the couple on their wedding.

“They did a pretty good job. No deep cleaning, but they did take out all the garbage and moved the furniture back. I was pretty impressed,” Ms Smith told Buzzfeed.

Ms Smith said Airbnb has offered to compensate the pair for the three non-paying guests. The guests also reportedly left the Ms Smith a five-star rating for her hospitality.

There was not such as happy ending for Londoners Christina McQuillan and her partner Henry, however, after their Airbnb guests allegedly caused £3,000 damage when they hosted a wild New Year’s Eve party at the young couple’s £500,000 flat in Putney.

Up to 100 drunken revellers are said to have attended the party, stealing a knife, breaking a television, damaging the flooring and taking drugs. The woman who booked the room, 21-year-old Rikki Campbell, insists she has done nothing wrong, however, denying her friends were drunk or took drugs and saying they all left asked.

In fact she claims that Miss McQuillan had no right to kick her friends out of the flat as she’d been informed in advance about the part. “'My friends were not drunken and they all left without argument even though she had no right. She broke our contract while I kept all the rules,” Ms Campbell told the Guardian.
