Donald Trump’s plea for a “major investigation into voter fraud” could end up hitting far closer to home than he expected.

It has emerged his second youngest daughter Tiffany Trump is registered to vote in two different states - both Pennsylvania and New York.

The 22-year-old, who is one of the President’s lesser known children, lived in Pennsylvania while attending university in the city.

But Tiffany, who is the billionaire developer’s only daughter from his second marriage to Marla Maples, is not the only person close to the President to be registered to vote in two states.

Steve Bannon, one of Trump’s top advisors and former executive chairman of far-right publication Breitbart News, was also registered to vote in both Florida and New York. He cast just one ballot in New York and is reported to have sent a letter trying to get himself removed from his Florida address.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump announced a “major investigation” into voter fraud. In doing so, he incorrectly claimed registering to vote in two different states counted as voter fraud.

“I will be asking for a major investigation into VOTER FRAUD, including those registered to vote in two states, those who are illegal and even, those registered to vote who are dead (and many for a long time). Depending on results, we will strengthen up voting procedures!” he wrote on Twitter.

While it is illegal to cast a ballot in multiple states in the US, it is not illegal to be registered in two states at the same time.

Like Bannon, Tiffany is reported to have only cast her ballot in New York City at the November election.

Tiffany is Mr Trump’s second youngest child after his son Barron who is just 10. She was raised separately from her siblings, moving to California at the age of five and being brought up by her mother, Ms Maples, while her father and siblings were based in New York.

In an 2015 interview, Tiffany said of her father: “I don’t know what it’s like to have a typical father figure. He’s not the dad who’s going to take me to the beach and go swimming, but he’s such a motivational person.”
