'Drunk' woman embarks on high speed chase 'leading police to her preferred prison'

An Oklahoma woman ignored police officers and embarked on a dangerous car chase because she "wanted to direct the officers to her preferred prison".

Luz Avilla, 34, who is facing a string of charges including drunk driving and eluding police, set off on a 100 miles per hour chase after she was stopped by police on suspicion that she was driving under the influence of alcohol.

When she finally pulled over, Ms Avilla stunned the officers by claiming she wasn't fleeing from them, she simply wanted to lead them to her prison of choice in Caddo County.

"Apparently the driver did not want to go to jail in Grady County," Shannon McClain of Chickasha Police told KWTV said McClain. "She wanted to go to jail in Caddo County was her explanation as to why she did not pull over."

Ms Avilla initially refused to get out of her vehicle, which was carrying drunk passengers, according to police, even as back-ups arrived at the scene and told her to step out at gunpoint. She eventually left the car and was charged with DUI by Grady County police
