Woman accused of poisoning boyfriend with drain cleaner to put him into ‘eternal sleep’
Elle Weissman, 43, told boyfriend he was drinking medicine

A woman poisoned her boyfriend with drain cleaner because she wanted to put him into an “eternal sleep”, police said.
Elle Weissman, 43, of Utah, was charged with attempted murder after she tricked her boyfriend into drinking the substance by telling him it was medicine.
The allegations came to light earlier this week when Ms Weissman’s 50-year-old boyfriend arrived at an urgent care centre in Salt Lake City where he was treated for symptoms related to poisoning.
“She actually took him to the hospital, that’s the weird thing,” said Gary Keller, executive officer for the South Salt Lake City police department.
A police department news release said Ms Weissman admitted to the clinic’s staff that she had given the man the drain cleaner.
Investigators said the man was alive and still hospitalised, but may have “medical problems” as a result of consuming the drain cleaner.
Ms Weissman was taken into custody and is currently booked at the Salt Lake County Jail, where she was charged with attempted murder and surreptitious administering of a suspicious substance, both second degree felonies.
The district attorney will formally charge her in the coming days.
