Hillary Clinton admits using personal email 'wasn't the best choice'

The Demorcratic frontrunner said she should have used two email accounts

Hillary Clinton has admitted that using a personal email account while she was secretary of state “wasn’t the best choice”, in a marked change of tack.

Speaking to reporters at an event in Iowa yesterday, Mrs Clinton said: “My use of personal email was allowed by the State Department. It clearly wasn’t the best choice.”

“I should have used two emails – one personal, one for work – and I take responsibility for that decision."

However, speaking in Nevada earlier this month, she dismissed the issue. CNN reported that she said: “Everybody is acting like this [is the] first time this has ever happened. It happens all the time.”

She has also responded to the matter jokingly and said she loved Snapchat because “those messages disappear all by themselves”, at a Democratic party in Iowa, the Daily Mail reported.

It was recently announced that more than 300 of Ms Clinton's emails from her private server would be reviewed to see if they contained classified information.

The BBC reported that the emails had been identified, while the State Department carried checks to see whether they could be released publicly.

The emails were released in July.

But AP reported that they showed now-classified information and that similar situations had occurred for the past two administrations.

Last year, following a Freedom of Information Act, the State Department published emails about the 2012 attack on a US compound in Libya in which officials discussed sensitive matters.
