Los Angeles police have launched a manhunt looking for two suspects they believe were involved in the shooting of two police officers in the City of Angels on Sunday evening.

The officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene of the shooting, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Police have detained several people for questioning, but have shut down a portion of south Los Angeles searching for two suspects.

“We have active search teams going through the neighbourhood,” police detective Meghan Aguilar told the Times. “We're asking the public to shelter in place and notify police if they see any unusual activity in their houses or yards.”

The officers – who were in plainclothes – were driving on Broadway around 5:45 Sunday evening when the shots were fired. It is not clear if the car was a marked police cruiser or an undercover vehicle.

This is an on-going investigation. Check back with The Independent for further updates.
