Maryland shooting: 'Multiple victims' as police order people to avoid area with active shooter on loose after Aberdeen business park attack

A number of people have been killed in a shooting at a distribution centre in Maryland.

Officials have confirmed that seven people were shot with four deceased, including the lone suspect who has since been identified as 26-year-old Snochia Moseley from Baltimore County. The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The shooting took place at a Rite Aid - a national pharmacy chain – distribution centre in Aberdeen.

“I can confirm multiple wounded and multiple fatalities, ” said Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler about the shooting about 30 miles from Baltimore at a press conference early Thursday afternoon.

The Harford Sheriff's Department has since confirmed on Twitter that three people injured from the shooting were expected to survive.

A law enforcement source also said officials believe the suspect had a work-related grievance, according to Reuters. Officials have not confirmed a motive at the time of publication.

"At this time we know that the suspect was temporarily employed at the Rite Aid distribution centre," Harford Sheriff's Department wrote on Twitter. "She reported for her work day as usual around 9am."

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI Baltimore were at the scene.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan tweeted that the Maryland State Police Department had also arrived to the scene of the shooting.

"The First Lady and I are grieving for the loss of life in today's shooting in Harford County, and praying that those who were injured fully recover," Mr Hogan wrote on Twitter.

He added: “Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The State stands ready to offer any support”.
