Mountain biker dies after falling up to 80ft in Peak District fall

A mountain biker has died after falling up to 80ft (24m) in the Peak District in Derbyshire.

Mountain rescuers was called to Laddow Rocks on Black Hill, north of Crowden, yesterday afternoon.

According to reports mountain rescue teams spent over six hours trying to rescue the cyclist, who did not survive the fall.

The 46-year-old from West Yorkshire, who has not been named, had been cycling in the area with friends.

Neale Pinkerton, of Kinder Mountain Rescue, said: "Unfortunately the rider did not survive the fall. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and friends."
