Nicki Minaj just called out Miley Cyrus during her VMAs acceptance speech
'Back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press'
After accepting her award for Best Hip-Hop Video, Nicki Minaj had a few words to say to VMA host Miley Cyrus about her recent comments made in the New York Times.
“And now… back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press, Miley Cyrus. Miley, what’s good?"Minaj said furiously, before mouthing expletives away from the microphone to a seemingly shook Cyrus.
Context: Cyrus questioned Minaj’s intentions in her recent controversy with Taylor Swift. When Minaj’s “Anaconda” wasn’t nominated for Video of the Year, she made a lot of valid points about racism in the music industry.
Still, Cyrus felt the need to speak out to the Times:
“And it’s not anger like, ‘Guys, I’m frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.’ You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA.'"
She continued: "If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: “This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.”
