Team Trump staffers searching for evidence of voter fraud are reportedly being trolled by Joe Biden fans and supporters of the Republican anti-Trump group, the Lincoln Project.

People have been calling the president's voter fraud hotline to goad staff manning the phones after Mr Biden secured the presidency on Saturday.

Staff have been bombarded with prank calls and the operation is turning into a "nightmare",  according to ABC News.

Pranksters may have been emboldened by two Lincoln Project advisers who put out a call on Twitter on Saturday as President-elect Biden prepared to deliver his victory speech in Delaware.

Rick Wilson and George Conway sarcastically suggested it would be "wrong" for people to phone the hotline unless they had "significant" evidence of ballot irregularities.

The Lincoln Project, set up in the wake of Donald Trump's 2016 victory, has been a thorn in the president's side ever since.

It released a series of scathing TV adverts during the election campaign, which attacked Mr Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and record in office more generally.

Other adverts focused on some of Mr Trump's most loyal allies, such as South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham, who held onto his seat following a tough battle against Democrat challenger Jaime Harrison.

Mr Biden was announced as the winner of the 2020 election on Saturday after he secured the state of Pennsylvania and later Nevada, taking him over the 270 electoral college votes needed to enter the White House.

Despite what appears to be a commanding victory, team Trump continues to insist the election is "far from over".

Mr Trump's lawyers have launched a series of legal challenges in key battleground states, claiming that voter fraud has taken place.

The hotline has been set up to facilitate finding evidence of voter fraud; but the Trump campaign has yet to offer any concrete proof of ballot irregularity.
