Donald Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to quash the Affordable Care Act, which was introduced by his predecessor Barack Obama to provide healthcare coverage to millions of Americans.
Government lawyers are arguing the legislation, dubbed Obamacare and seen as one of the Democrat ex-president’s signature achievements, became invalid when the Republican-led Congress axed parts of it in 2017.
Democrats have accused the administration of waging a “senseless crusade” of “unfathomable cruelty” on healthcare protections just as the US sees an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases across the US. The country on Thursday recorded its highest one-day rise in Covid-19 infections yet.
Report: EU to ban most US travellers
The European Union will bar travel from the US, Russian and several other countries considered "too risky" amid the coronavirus pandemic when travel resumes on 1 July, according to The New York Times.
The list of accepted countries will include China, and coupled with the exclusion of the US, the move marks a sharp rebuke of the Trump administration and its claims that the nation is combatting the virus despite dramatic surges in Covid-19 cases numbers and hospitalisation rates.

Donald Trump is blaming "anarchists, looters and agitators" — echoing his speeches over the last week — for cancelling his golfing trip to Bedminster, New Jersey.
Though it's unclear how the president will "enforce" from inside the White House.

It was not immediately clear what the order entails, as federal law already prohibits vandalising or damaging statues with penalties of up to 10 years in prison.
