Trump mocked after calling Thailand ‘Thighland’ in latest speech blunder

President was delivering speech in which he decried corporations sending jobs overseas

Another Donald Trump speech; another embarrassing verbal blunder for the US president.

Since assuming office in 2017, Mr Trump hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory with his speaking engagements.

This time, the president managed to get the name of an entire country wrong – while complaining about corporations sending jobs overseas.

Delivering a speech at a Whirlpool factory in Clyde, Ohio, the president referred to Thailand as “Thighland”.

“Four or five years ago this place was a disaster,” Mr Trump told an audience at the factory.

“Once more, your foreign competitors moved their factories to prevent a level playing field, and to avoid liability.

“Shifting production to Thighland, and to Vietnam ...”

Mr Trump immediately realised his error and repeated the statement to rectify the gaffe, adding: “Two places that – I like their leaders very much – do they take advantage of the United States? Not so much anymore.”

But eagle-eyed viewers were quick to pick up on the misspeak, with many taking to Twitter to mock the president.

“Trump comes from a ThighLand down under. Where women run and MAGAts blunder,” quipped one user.

Another said: “I used to frequent a strip club called ‘Thighland’. Great happy hour.”

A third said: “I think the speechwriters for Donald tRump [sic] should include the words “fajita and lasagna “ just for fun.

“Seeing how he did such a bang up job on Yosemite, and Thighland.”

It comes just days after the president was widely teased after he appeared to pronounce Yosemite National Park as “yo-semite”.

Mr Trump had been speaking at an event celebrating the Great America Outdoors Act.
