Police warned of a possible terrorist threat to dignitaries commemorating tomorrow's 10th anniversary of the Bali bombings and raised the country's security alert to its highest level.

Officials said security had been tightened at all entry points to the island and snipers would be placed around memorial sites.

The Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, is scheduled to attend a service remembering the bombing of two Bali nightclubs on 12 October 2002. The attacks by Jemaah Islamiyah, a militant group linked to al-Qa'ida, killed 202 people, including 88 Australian tourists.
