Brasilia (Reuter) - Brazil's most powerful governor yesterday said President Fernando Collor de Mello was unfit to govern, after a congressional report found the president profited from kickbacks in a government corruption scandal.
Luiz Antonio Fleury Filho, governor of Sao Paulo state, home to most of the country's banks and industry, said the report was 'absolutely convincing' when it found that Mr Collor 'received improper financial benefit'. The report, which the Senate is expected to accept today, could lead to impeachment charges against Mr Collor. He denies any wrongdoing.
