A dissident cleric said security forces had arrested a senior ayatollah in the Iranian holy city of Qom to bar him from becoming the top Shia religious authority, Reuter reports from Nicosia. Ayatollah Mohammad Rohani, who believed religion should be separate from politics, was seized on Saturday night, Mehdi Haeri said in a statement.
