Police believe they have caught one of Russia's worst serial killers, when a former policeman was detained in Vladivostok after a 15-year investigation.
The 48-year-old, who has been named only as Mikhail P., is suspected of murdering at least 24 women.
The victims, who were mainly in their 20s, were murdered between 1995 and 1998 in the town of Angarsk, near Lake Baikal in Siberia. Most of the women had been tortured with knives and screwdrivers, and some had been beheaded.
