A woman has been arrested on suspicion of killing five newborn babies over a period of several years, police in Germany said today.
Authorities in the northern city of Flensburg said the 28-year-old has admitted killing two babies whose bodies were found in March 2006 and March 2007. Her identity was not released in accordance with German privacy laws.
Police said today that the mother is also suspected of killing three other children shortly after they were born.
She has been charged with five counts of manslaughter.
