Isis magazine 'interviews' wife of kosher supermarket gunman living under group’s self-declared 'caliphate'

Boumeddiene is believed to have travelled to Turkey and crossed into Syria

Isis has published what it claims is an interview with the widow of the French gunman who held a Jewish supermarket hostage in Paris, killing five people before he was gunned down by police forces.

The latest interviews in the militant group's propaganda magazine Dabiq did not directly name Hayat Boumeddiene or feature images of her. The interview and claims made within it have not been independently verified.

Boumeddiene is believed to have travelled to Turkey and then crossed into Syria while the January attacks were unfolding in Paris, where 17 people were killed in three days of bloodshed.

It appeared to be the first confirmation from Isis that she had joined the group in Syria, as was widely believed after a posthumous video emerged of her husband, Amedy Coulibaly, pledging allegiance to its leader.

“Living in a land where the law of Allah is implemented is something great,” she is quoted as saying by Middle East Eye. “I feel at ease now that I have carried out this obligation.”

She urged women to be patient and make life easier for the men in their family.

The latest issue of Dabiq also dedicated an article to defending the burning alive of a Jordanian pilot, whose death was so brutal even one of Isis's own clerics objected to it.

It claimed his death was a form of retaliation “for his involvement in the crusader bombing campaign which continues to result in the killing of countless Muslims who, as a result of these airstrikes, are burned alive”.

French authorities launched an investigation last week over claims Boumeddiene was featured in an Isis video entitled “Blow up France 2”, which praised the Paris attacks.
