One-day truce in Burma
Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi forged a one-day truce yesterday with the generals who rule Burma, laying a wreath at her father's tomb at state ceremonies to commemorate his assassination 49 years ago.
Speculation had been rife whether mounting tensions between Ms Suu Kyi and the government would prevent her publicly honouring General Aung San, Burma's independence hero, whose legacy both his daughter and the government claim. AP - Rangoon
